Sitting Behind Fred and Barbi

Subject:  Sitting Behind Fred and Barbi

We attend Mariner’s Church.  I wanted to see better, so a few years ago my husband and I started sitting behind Fred and Barbi, every Sunday.

I didn’t mean to stare, but I couldn’t help but notice her care for him.  Barbi had a lovely balance – she was helpful to Fred, making sure his legs were covered (they shared the same lap blanket) and that his gloves were on (our church can be chilly at 8:30 am!) and don’t even try to walk over Fred when leaving the service, Barbie protected him fiercely! Conversely, she always let him speak for himself. For example, on Veteran’s Day, when I thanked Fred for his service in the Navy.  Fred answered, loud and proud: “You’re welcome.”

Barbi and Fred BOTH extended their hands each Sunday as Eric said a blessing over us.  I witnessed this on the very last Sunday that Fred attended Mariner’s.  I always left church encouraged by Barbi’s commitment to Fred.
